How to Conduct a Stocktake

Stocktaking is an important aspect of good inventory management. A stock take can be conducted regularly to check if the reported inventory levels of your products match what is physically in your store. With talech, you can conduct a stock take using the talech App or through the back office on talech.com. 

Please Note: Stocktake is a premium feature. If you do not have premium enabled, contact us at support@talech.com or reach out to your sales rep to upgrade your account.  

Stocktake from talech.com

1. Log in to talech.com.  
2. Select Items > Stocktake from the left navigation menu.  
3. This screen will show stocktakes for the specified day. You can change the date via the calendar dropdown if needed.  

 

4. To conduct a new stock take, select Take Stock in the top right corner.  

 

5. Locate the item(s) you wish to adjust. You can use the search field or filter by certain categories with the category dropdown.   
6. Enter the quantity in the Counted Qty field. Once you are done making your adjustments, select Review Stocktake.  

 

7. Review your changes.  

• If you need to correct anything, select Back to Stocktake and make any necessary updates.  
• If everything looks correct, select Update Stock.  

 

The products have now been updated!  

 

Stocktake from the talech Register App

1. From the talech Register App, go to Dashboard > Back Office > Inventory.
2. Select Actions in the top right. In the drop down, select Stocktake.

• You may receive a prompt explaining how to complete the stocktake. If you do not wish for this prompt to appear again, press Don’t Remind Me Again.
   

3. Stocktake has two sections across the top:

• All Products: Shows all products that have inventory tracking on. If a product is not listed on this screen, chances are that inventory tracking is not turned on for that product. Go to your Back Office > Menu to edit your products.
• Stocktake List: Shows any added product you select that you would like to adjust inventory for.

4. There are two ways to add products to your stocktake list. Both ways are completed from the All Products tab.

• You can manually add products to the Stocktake List. Search or scroll to view the product you are looking to adjust. Press the blue + button on the right-hand side of the product details.
• You can use a barcode scanner. Any item that is scanned will automatically be added to the Stocktake List.

5. To adjust the quantity of the items, you must be in the Stock Take List tab.

• If you are adjusting manually, adjust the quantity in the Counted column. It is an open text field, so tap on the box, enter in the correct number, and move on to the next product.
• If you are adjusting using a barcode scanner, each scan adds 1 Counted quantity. So, if you counted 5 of the same product, scan that item 5 times. If you accidentally scan too many times, you can manually adjust the Counted field to be correct.

 

 

6. Once you are finished making your changes, press Save in the top right-hand corner.

 

 

7. A prompt will appear for you to confirm your changes. Confirm and print the report if you choose. Your inventory has now been adjusted!
