The following routers have been verified and are known to have issues passing local traffic. This issue results in printers or networked card readers (iPP320, iCT250, etc.) being unavailable or timing out when the app is attempting to reach the device.
In all installations, talech does not recommend the use of ISP-provided equipment for the Point of Sale network. Customers are advised to setup a POS network with a second router BEHIND the ISP's gateway/router. See the network requirements doc for more information.
These routers have been confirmed as root cause of the above issues in several installations and are therefore "blacklisted" from support:
ISP | Router |
---|---|
Shaw, Rogers, possibly others | Hitron CGNM-2250 |
Comcast | Cisco BWG-DPC3941B |
Comcast, others | Cisco BWG-DPC3939B |
Century Link | All makes/models |
AT&T | Arris NVG Series |
Spectrum Telecom | Arris DG1670A |
Time Warner Cable (TWC) | Technicolor TC8715D* |
*This router has also been known to exhibit connectivity issues with WiFi clients as well as local communication on the LAN and can affect iPad's even if a wired card reader is not used.
