Introduction: In the course of business, you might choose to change your Merchant Services Provider/Credit card processor. It's easy to take your existing talech account with you in this process. Below is an overview of the process of changing providers that most customers will experience.
This process typically takes about 1 week to complete.
Please be aware that delays can occur if talech does not receive responses to inquiries for VAR sheet, hardware ordering, or cannot confirm the cutover time with you.

Step | Description |
---|---|
Step 1: Check for Compatibility | Ask your new processor if their platform supports the USAePay, Roam Data Ingenico Gateway or Virtual Merchant Gateway. These are the preferred payment gateways talech is compatible with. |
Step 2: Notify talech of your intent to change services | Notify talech of the new processor, which gateway the processor is compatible with and whether or not you intend to use an EMV-compatible card reader (there are currently no EMV options in talech for platforms using USAePay). Note: As a courtesy to the losing processor, talech may notify the sales rep of record for your account. The rep will have 24-hours to respond if there are any issues with the change. |
Step 3: talech will advise next steps |
In most cases, new card readers must be ordered for the new processor. Card readers are encrypted to work with specific processors -- even readers of the same model. talech will advise you on the following:
|
Step 4:Cut Over |
Once your card readers have arrived and talech has received the VAR sheet for your new processor, you must notify talech and ask for a specific date and time for the cutover to occur. talech will notify you when the time is confirmed and contact you at the agreed upon time to ensure you've installed the readers and tested to ensure there are no issues processing on the new platform. Note: to allow ample time to correct any unexpected issues with the new processor or card readers, we recommend cutting over during the week rather than over the weekend. |
Step 5: Wrapping up |
Once the cutover has occurred, it is important to notify the losing processor of your change in service. To avoid down-time should unforeseen issues arise, we recommend closing your old account only after you have completed the change to your new processing provider. |
Please feel free to contact talech Support for any questions about the processor change process.
