If your location has decided to use a credit terminal to process transactions instead of an iPad card reader, you’ll be able to set it in the Register app. This will allow switching a transaction mode to process transactions on an external credit terminal. There will be a couple more fields available to fill in for credit transactions. To change the transaction mode :
Step 1 : Tap on the three lines on the top left for the side bar and tap on “Settings”.
Step 2 : In “General” settings, tap on “Card Swiper Type” on the top right.
Step 3 : From the list of credit transactions types, select “External Payment Terminal” and tap “Back” along the top.
When processing transactions, you’ll have a few additional fields for credit info.
Step 1 : When a customer pays with a Visa for example, the payment screen will start with a “Pay” button.
Step 2 : After tapping “Pay”, you’ll have the credit input screen to summarize the payment. The fields to fill in are First Name, Last Name, Authorization Code, Last 4 Digits, Card Type and Comments. Once completed, tap on “Submit” for the signature screen.
Step 3 : Once filled in, the customer can complete their purchase. After signing, a receipt will be printed.
At the initial pay screen, a customer can overpay the "Amount Due" and the excess balance will be applied towards a tip. An example shows below. If they do, the screen will prompt with the option to add the amount as a tip.
