Introduction: This article will show you how you can take split payments on a single order.
Overview: After putting in their order, customers can pay one amount to pay the entire order, or split the payment between multiple people, or multiple payment types.There are two ways the split payment can be done, as a regular equal split or as a split by position. Each person paying can pay cash, credit or by check.
There are multiple ways to split payments in talech Register.
You can:
- Split Payment Types (Use multiple forms of payment. Ex: Cash & Credit Card)
- Split a bill into halves, quarters, or any custom number (up to 99 ways)
- Apply a Partial Payment
- Split by Position on a ticket (This requires talech Premium)

Applying Split Payments:
Step 1: From talech register, tap on Pay
Step 2: Tap the Tender Amount field and enter the specific amount being paid.Step 3: Submit the payment
Step 4: The next screen will provide you the option to print or email a receipt
Stp 5: Tap on Enter Next Payment
Step 6: Repeat as necessary until the bill is paid in full
Split Bills multiple ways:
Step 1: From the register view, tap on Pay in the bottom right corner
Step 2: Select the payment type and tap Split Payment near the top of the screen. Select one of the available split options.
- You can split a bill in half, quarters, or enter how many splits are required (up to 99)
- You can also tap on Tender Amount and enter a pay amount manually
Step 3: Submit the payment
Step 4: The next screen will provide you the option to Print or Email or Skip a receipt
Step 5: Tap on Enter Next Payment
Step 6: Repeat as necessary until the bill is paid in full
Applying Partial Payments:
Step 1: From the register view, tap on Pay in the bottom right corner
Step 2: Tap the Tender Amount field and enter the specific amount being paid, OR select the Split Payment and choose any applicable split option(s).
Step 3: Submit the payment
Step 4: The next screen will provide you the option to Print or Email or Skip a receipt
Step 5: When brought back to the Payment Screen, tap the X in the top left to go back to the register
Splitting Payment by Positions (Restaurant Premium Customers Only):
Step 1: Sort items by Position in the order ticket.
- You can press & hold to drag and drop items to their correct position
Step 2: When you Sort by Position in the register, you have multiple receipt printing options for the balance owed receipt.
- All (single receipt): Prints the entire bill on 1 single recipes, regardless of positions
- All Unpaid (separate receipts): Prints all unpaid positions individually.
- Ex: If you have 2 positions, it will print Position 1, cut the receipt, print Position 2, cut)
- Print Position #: Prints only the items associated to the position number chosen.
- Ex: If Position 1 is leaving early, and wishes to pay his portion of the bill, you can close out Position 1, and the remaining position(s) will stay open)
Step 3: Tap on Pay in the bottom right corner of talech Register
Step 4: Select the payment type and tap Split Payment
Step 5: Choose Split By Position
Step 6: Select which Position to completed payment.
- You can view the items on each position ticket by tapping the position you want to review in detail.
Step 7: Submit the payment
Step 8: The next screen will provide you the option to Print or Email or Skip a receipt
Step 9: Tap on Enter Next Payment
Step 10: Repeat as necessary until the bill is paid in full
