Credit card issuers and merchants are working together to provide new ways to combat fraud, and chip and PIN technology is one of the most important developments to come along in years. Chip credit card technology, also known as EMV, helps reduce the risk of fraud during card-present transactions.
If a customer is using an EMV debit card and the merchant has their signature option to sign on paper than talech will not prompt to add a tip at the time of the transaction. Because of this the merchant will NOT be able to later adjust tip on the settlement screen .
If the merchant is able to switch their signature setting to sign on device, than talech will prompt to add a tip to the transaction before the pin is entered; allowing debit customers to leave tips.
