Introduction: In version 4.7.4, we added a feature that uses the camera on the iPad in to scan barcodes. This can be used instead of the Socket CHS handheld barcode scanner.
Select each of the areas below to view pictures and expected behavior.
Supported Barcodes:
- UPC-E
- Code39 + Mod43
- EAN-13
- EAN-8
- Code-128
Note: Currently we do not support QR codes.
While in the register, there is a barcode symbol next to the search symbol. Selecting this will open the dialog asking to scan a product.
Once the scanner is open, it will not close until "Close" is pressed. Meaning multiple items can be scanned back to back without needing to re-select the button.
While in the Customers section of the app, there is a barcode symbol next to the search symbol. Selecting this will open a dialog to search for a customers Loyalty Card number. This acts a search function only. The Customer's information will not automatically prompt if scanned.
While in the Inventory section of the app, there is a barcode symbol next to the search symbol. Selecting this will open a dialog to search for a product via barcode number.
While in the Back office Gift Card section of the app, there is a new section for "Use Camera" to scan gift cards. This can be used to Activate New Cards, Add Amount, or to Check Balance.
Additionally, we support scanning the Barcode during the payment flow to redeem a Gift Card. While in the tender screen, select the Gift Card Tender Type. Then use the "Scan With Camera" button to scan a barcode to redeem it.
