Setting up your Ingenico reader in talech
Introduction: This article will guide you through completing the setup of your Ingenico card reader, within your talech register.
This article applies to the following Ingenico readers.
- Ingenico IWL258
- Ingenico IWL220
- Ingenico ICT220
- Ingenico ICT250
- Ingenico Tetra Move 5000
- Ingenico Tetra Desk 5000
Before proceeding, please make sure that you have the following:
- You have the current talech Register app downloaded onto your iPad.
- You have Admin level access to the talech Register app.
- You have completed the initial setup of your card reader.

Connecting your Ingenico Card Reader.
Step 1: Log into the talech app using either the email address and password combination, or your admin’s 6 digit PIN.
Step 2: Select Dashboard.
Step 3: Select Back Office.
Step 4: Select the Settings.
Note: Remain in the General Settings and scroll down to the Payments Section.
Step 5: Select the Card Reader and
Step 6: Select the Ingenico ICT 220, ICT 250 & IWL 258, from the list provided.
Note: If this was previously set as the card reader, it should already be selected for you. If not simply select it again.
Important: If you are using a Tetra Move 3500/5000 or a Tetra Desk 5000, you will still select the same option.
Step 7: Once you have selected the correct reader, a new option will appear showing the iPad IP address, which will already be filled in, and the Reader IP address.
Step 8: Select the Reader IP address, and enter the full IP address that is given to you by the terminal.
Performing a Test Transaction:
Once you have selected your card reader in the settings, we recommend performing a test transaction to make sure that the connection is complete and that you are able to process cards with no issues.
Below are the Step by Step instructions that will show you "How to perform a test Transaction".
Step 1: Navigate back to the Card Reader settings following the steps provided above.
Step 2: Once you see the list of card readers, select the Blue Test Payment button at the bottom of the page.
Then generate a test charge for £1, or €1, and connect to your card reader. You can then complete the payment on the reader as normal.
