Setting up your Datecs Bluepad 50 in Talech
This article will guide you through completing the setup of your Datecs Bluepad 50 card reader, within your Talech register system.
Before proceeding, please make sure that you have the following:
- You have the current Register app downloaded onto your iPad
- You have Admin level access to the Register app itself.
- You have completed the initial setup of your card reader.
This article applies to any with the following criteria:
Content in this article:
- Connecting your Datecs Bluepad 50
- Performing a test transaction
Connecting your Datecs Bluepad 50:
To begin, log into the app using either the email address and password combination, or your admin’s 6 digit PIN.
Once successfully logged in, select Dashboard in the top right hand corner, if you are currently viewing your Product menu. Once on the Dashboard, select Back Office.
Next select the Settings option.
Remain in the General settings and scroll down to the Payments section.
Select the Card Reader option and select the Datecs Bluepad 50, from the list provided. The selection will be saved automatically.
In general this should already be selected for you.
Once the card reader is selected, select the Back button and select Terminal ID.
Select the Terminal ID on the next screen. If more than one Terminal ID is available, select one and note it. The selection will be saved automatically.
Note: Each iPad and Register would need to use a different Terminal ID. Taking note of the one used on one iPad prevents overlap between the card readers, if there are multiple to be set up.
Performing a test transaction:
Once you have selected your card reader in the settings, we recommend performing a test transaction to make sure that the connection is complete and that you are able to process cards with no issues.
The following steps will show you how to perform a test transaction in the settings.
Navigate back to the Card Reader settings following the steps provided above.
Once you see the list of card readers, you will see a blue Test Payment button at the bottom of the page.
Select this and it will generate a charge for £1, or €1, and connect to your card reader. You can then complete the payment on the reader as normal.
Note: If you are using a Datecs Bluepad 50 card reader, it may perform a TMS update as it is connecting. Allow the update to complete and it will proceed to connect to the reader and allow you to start processing the transaction.
