Moby/5500 Required Update for Elavon merchants:
If you are an Elavon merchant and have a Moby/5500 card reader, you will be required to update your card reader. This update is REQUIRED, you will NOT be able to accept a payment until your Moby/5500 card reader has been updated. The update should not take longer than 5 minutes total but it is recommended that you perform the update outside of business hours.
This update will be included as part of the following:
|Platform||Version number||Release date|
|talech Mobile iOS||3.0||October 26th|
If an update is required, you will see an alert on the dashboard screen. You can update by tapping on the alert on the bottom right of the Register app.
If you choose not to update at the time, you can update by navigating to Back Office > Settings > Card readers and select the Moby 5500 from the list
You can also update the card reader as part of the payment flow for credit or gift
Or via the gift card activation flow
After initiating the update you will see the following message.
Once you begin the update you will see an updating screen
You may cancel the update if you wish, however until the update is completed, you will not be able to use the card reader to process transactions. If you cancel the update you will only be able to make manual card entry payments.
Once complete you will either see the update successful or update failed screens.
During the update, the card reader will restart. In the case the card reader does not restart automatically, press and release the power button to restart manually. The update should continue.
If the update fails:
See the list of common failure reasons below.
- Unplugging or disrupting the update before completion. This can also cause damage where reader replacement may be required.
- Be sure to leave the talech app in the foreground while the card reader is updating. Navigating outside of the talech app will interrupt the update.
- Ensure your card reader is fully charged or connected to a power source before beginning the update.
- If you continue to run into issues, please contact our Support Team to advise on next steps.
